Justin and Melissa were married October 10th, 2015! They are the owners of Yolo Restaurant in East Amherst, NY. There wedding ceremony was at St. Louis RC Church in Buffalo, NY. The reception was at Salvatore's in Depew, NY. For photos, we went to the theatre district on Main St. in Buffalo. A lot of architecture. So, for the engagement session, we went a bit more rustic for some contrast.
This newly engaged couple wanted to go to the town of Clarence, NY for their photos. They have a favorite restaurant located there called Gertie's. This was a driveway on the side of the building. You can't go wrong when you see a vintage style bicycle with flower pots on it. It was the perfect place to start their session.
We also took into consideration the outfits they had on. They worked great with this location. Semi casual and great for a patio style lunch or dinner. You could even pack a picnic and this scene would be amazing!
This was at the beginning of the shoot, so Justin and Melissa were a little nervous. We had them focus in on each other to try and make them feel we were not there taking photos. You can see both of their smiles and a little laughter. We try to make jokes and make small talk to calm the couple and make them feel more comfortable. In this case, we had some natural laughter! These are some of the best moments!
The back ground is so pretty in this image. The wooden fence creates a nice neutral back drop. Then the bicycle with the red flowers adds just a hint of color. We did move the bicycle slightly. We wanted to flowers to the side of the couple. It was directly behind them and didn't make sense at first. It helped to balance out the photo. The greenery behind Justin also helps to balance out the greenery on the opposite side.
We gave them a sneak peek on the camera to show them we were off to an amazing start and they were doing great! We told them this was just the beginning and wait until the big day!
