Family portrait sessions can be so much fun! When a family contacts us, we ask a lot of questions to get an idea of the style photos they would like. For the Katz family, they wanted something outdoors. They weren't too sure where though. So we gave them a few different locations that had some different styles to help them. They loved the rustic style, rolling hills, and tall grass at Knox Farm State Park in East Aurora, NY.
Great choice for family portraits. There is so much to work with there for different back grounds and scenery. While doing family portraits, we also like to do solo pictures of the children. This little guy was ready for his close up right when we arrived. We even heard he was practicing some poses he wanted to do.
You can't really see his pose in this image, but this was one he really wanted to do. He wanted to lean against a wall and prop his leg up (foot on the wall) with his hands in his pockets. This image was Neal's view. I started off the session and Neal was going to take lead on the second outfit. I had this little guy stand against one of the barns and do his pose. I was taking a wide angle shot to get more of the red barn doors. When I asked him to look off, he was having a hard time of where to look. So, Neal moved where we wanted him to look. It was perfect because, Neal could tell him to look at his camera and take this image!
The back round is so cool here. I love how Neal Urban captured the white wood planks. There is even a little part in the left corner that balances and frames in the image.
The Katz family portrait session was amazing! The kids were little models!
