We had so much fun on this first birthday cake smash at Knox Farm State Park in East Aurora.
We started with family portraits around the park. Then it was time to change the baby and get ready for the cake smash. We found an area that had hay barrels in the field. We thought these would be a great back drop. We brought some props with us just in case.
We set down a blanket. Then an old wooden pepsi tray to set the cake on. It was a very rustic and outdoor style shoot. Mom and dad brought the sign and hat that said one. Then they put him in his little jeans, suspenders, and bow tie.
The cake was brought in and everyone waited! He did not go for the cake right away. He wasn't too interested. Then mom came in and gave him a taste of the frosting. After that he put his hands in the cake and it ended up all over his face. It was awesome. He had cake all on his nose and cheeks.
We loved his expression in this image. He has such a curious face. We turned the demolished part of the cake to face the camera to show the destruction. His big sister wanted in on the cake too! She even joined for a bit. But she had to have a fork. She would not touch it. Mom brought some forks. She had a feeling that was going to happen!
One of our favorite types of shoots are cake smashes. They are so much fun. We love to come up with ideas and themes to fit the clients!
