sandals white house jamaica destination wedding photographer of bride

A stunning bridal portrait is an amazing way to start of a wedding day! Especially when you are photographing a destination wedding at the Sandals White House Resort in Jamaica (now called Sandals South Coast).

Rick and Leanne got married March of 2014 in Jamaica! They had a gorgeous destination wedding with close family and friends, then a huge reception back home at Antonio's Banquet and Conference Center in Niagara Falls, NY.

For this wedding, we put together a package that would include multiple photo sessions during our stay. Little did we know, we almost didn't make it to the wedding. Back home in Buffalo, there was a winter storm and all flights were cancelled. We had no idea what was going to happen. We contacted the travel agent the couple was working with and were told that a few other guests were on our same flight and now driving to Pittsburgh PA to catch a new flight. That meant we had to rent a car and drive a terrifying 4 hours (took much longer due to the weather) to make this flight. When all was said and done, we got to the resort right in time for the rehearsal. We checked in and got right to work.

The day of the wedding was a hot one! Leanne and Rick got ready at opposite sides of the resort. Neal did a lot of running around the grounds that morning. I stayed with Leanne and the bridesmaids in the air conditioning!

This portrait of the bride is gorgeous. All done in the hotel room with the natural light from the windows. Her eyes and bridal makeup are beautiful. Her eyes match the amber highlights in her hair. The neutral color of her lipstick is perfect for a beach wedding. That necklace gave just enough bling and elegance to the image. The flower in her hair was subtle and just right. Even though it is out of focus, there was a colored mural on the wall behind Leanne. I think it adds a nice hint of color to the image, but not enough to distract the eye.

The ceremony was on the beach. After the I Do, the sky opened up and it down poured just in time for cocktails on the beach. Luckily there was a back up plan and it could be moved inside. Rain can be amazing for photographs. In Jamaica, you are guaranteed a picture perfect sunset after the rain. We sure got that and an added bonus, a double rainbow! This destination wedding couldn't have been more perfect!
